The Tara Sanctuary with its Bell-tower and stone Labyrinth
was created from 1999 to 2004 as a place of rest and contemplation.

If you are staying at Mana you can enjoy this magnificent building under the mountain at any time.

The Sanctuary Booklet in full colour and 28 pages contains all the details and stories of this 5 year building project.
The booklets are available from the Mana office for a donation of $6.

The windows are in the four major directions. - ( Hover your cursor over the image to enlarge it )

Beginning in the EAST, honouring the element air, the colour is YELLOW. Here Judaism and Christianity are represented symbolically.

In the NORTH, the colour is RED (the element of fire in our hemisphere). The ancient Persian religion of Zoroaster and Islam and Sufism are honoured.

The borders of all the windows are a spiral portraying the koru. The symbol of the unfolding perfection of life.

In the WEST the colour is BLUE and the element water, with the sacred OM sign representing Hinduism and the simple lotus; Buddhism.

In the SOUTH, the element is earth and the colour is GREEN. This window honours all the earth based paths, all the indigenous cultures from the Maori to the Celtic. It especially celebrates the Ancient Goddess traditions which are widely spread over our beautiful planet.
(Stained glass windows designed and built by Stephen Hutton - 1999)
